Pickups for 2 Les Pauls

I 've had an Inverness green studio for some time with a covered WLH set. Last week I picked up a Mojave burst Standard with stock BBPros. So the BBPro honeymoon is over and it's time to swap.

I am looking to have versatility between the 2 to cover a typical range of 60s -80s classic rock.

The current plan is to swap the WLH set into the standard. To change the studio up cosmetically I am thinking zebras and I am 90% on an A2Pn. For the bridge I have narrowed it down but am stuck between the matching A2P or a Custom/59.

So the question is, which of the 2 bridge pickups fills more of the tonal space that the WLHb doesnt cover?

I think the APH2 bridge would fill the gap. It is warmer and buttery-er. It will be a nice contrast.

Yeah, you have the A5 magnet tones covered with the Whole Lotta set. You need a contrasting set with A2 magnet like the A2P, or the Slash set, or the Seth Lover set. You could also go heavier with a Super Distortion / Super 2 set for pure rock. Dimarzio 36th set is also a great set that is very different from any Duncan set.

I would go A2P neck / Custom Custom bridge. The CC sounds like a more powerful A2P.

+1, all three are good choices. A2 magnets are unoriented, and give a more complex tone than an A5.

Some have considered CC's too be too warm for most LP's, so I wouldn't recommend them.

I was leaning towards the A2P from the start since the WLH already gives me a medium output A5, so good to get that validation here.

I just took the Burstbucker 2 and 3+ out of my '17 LP Traditional HP and put in a Pearly Gates Neck and Custom '78 in the bridge this past weekend. I liked the Burstbuckers (with covers) but really wanted to change the look of the guitar by putting in the zebra Duncans. Totally amazed at how thick and chunky the '78 is in my Les Paul. It really covers the 70's and 80's classic rock I play, taking my from Free to Jackyl tones with ease plugged into my Marshall Studio Classic.

The '78 sounded thin and almost single-coil like in my super strat with a Floyd but it sounds incredible in my LP. Cannot recommend it enough for this application.
