Pickups for all Mahagony Humbucker tele?

Re: Pickups for all Mahagony Humbucker tele?

I have a custom-built sapele (similar to mahogany) HH telecaster with A Pearly Gates set in it and I use it to play hard rock and heavy blues, but with a series/parallel split option it’s good at almost anything. I love that set.

Thanks guys, I go with the 59/Custom in the Bridge! Now i need a Neck pickup.. Does the Alnico pro 2 or the Pearly gates are a good match with the 59/custom? Its a 24 fret guitar..

I'd recommend the Alnico II Pro if it was a 22 fret guitar, but I think that pickup (my fav neck pickup BTW) loses everything that is great about it with a 24 fret guitar. The PG or Jazz is a good alternative.

@Mincer i have here a SG which need new Pickups, I think there it's easy for me to decide.
For my Music, not more than Mötley crüe gain, is the SNS or Custom 5 in the Bridge better? The SG is some sort of typically Midheay.

If you are doing Crue levels of gain, I'd go with the SNS. The C5 is more modern sounding to my ears...really tight and chunky in the lows, which doesn't sound like the 80s much to me.

Nope not more like Crüe type gain levels! Before I order, just to going right, the 59/Custom and the SNS are the sounds I´m looking for from Clean and Crunchy Blues - Crüe type Music and Gain level´s rigt?

Those are really great choices. I don't think you will have a hard time at all getting the sounds you want.

Re: Pickups for all Mahagony Humbucker tele?

Good luck. I would recommend a T-TOP type humbucker. IE: underwound compared to a PAF. I had an Alnico 5 7.2 kOhm Tom Short humbucker and it rocked my "Gibson Paul 2".

Re: Pickups for all Mahagony Humbucker tele?

Just put a Dimarzio DP223 36th Anniv in a mahogany Tele recently. Worked perfectly. Lower output and good cleans. But has more mids than a normal PAF-ish pickup. Plus, I play a lot of metal/industrial and the lows hang tight. Has become my favorite all-arounder bridge pickup in recent years.

Re: Pickups for all Mahagony Humbucker tele?

It has a normal Strat/Tele Style scale.

Can the 59/Custom or the Whole lotta be Metalized ala 80's?

Yes you can deffinately play metal with those pickups. The Custom especially. I personally would recommend a Pearly Gates in the bridge and a 59 or Pearly Gates int he neck. I use the PG/59 combo in a Les Paul and play tons of metal with it so the Whole Lotta Humbucker will probably be similar. If you want to play more extreme metal go with the custom, for anything less aggressive, any music from classic rock to 80's metal (Metallica, Motley Crue or similar) go with a Pearly Gates in the bridge.
