Pickups for an ash guitar...

Hey folks!

Haven't been around in a while, but i have a couple guitars that i'm not sure what pickups to throw in, so i figured i'd pop back. ;-)

I got 2 Schecter Stargazers, which are basically their 006 model with a retro (kinda Rickenbacker) look. They both have ash bodies, maple necks and dual humbuckers. One has a maple fingerboard and the other a rosewood.

I'm looking for pickups for the bridge & neck in both guitars. I generally play some punk (Against Me!, Alkaline Trio) but also post rock (Cult of Luna, Isis) as well. So i like pickups that can handle distortion with clarity, but also clean up.

Basically i'm just trying to find something also that won't be too bright or scooped, as i don't have much experience with ash bodies before. So any info or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks for the info!

I had been looking at either the Custom or the Custom Custom for the bridge (i know i could swap mags and change if needed).

How do you feel about the Custom Custom in the bridge compared to the Custom? I heard it suits brighter guitars well, but i have no experience with it.

Re: Pickups for an ash guitar...

Haven't tried the CC in an ash guitar, but I have tried the Custom and Custom 8, both worked fine. Grab a Custom and then order an A5, A2, and A8 and try them all. :)

Re: Pickups for an ash guitar...

You could get ap2 slash set in the maple board guitar and custom order a a5 slash set in the other. In the stargazer you could also get a 50's wiring set like the one I got from guitar parts resource.I have a lp copy with 59's as well as 50's wiring and it nailed the holy grail guitar tone.

Here's something about the body=swamp ash produces clear bell-like highs, distinct mids and robust lows.
