Hello! I have my guitar tuned in B (B E A D F# B) and i dont know what pickup i would put... i wants a sound like soilwork, in flames... Thankx

I had an ESP tuned B to b I used a Seymour Duncan Bridge and Neck Humbucker set, and it was rockin...
I played metal, mostly originals, but some slipknot, and that guitar rocked.
Had a Crate Amplifier at the time.
So my suggestion would be Invader.
I've moved on, and you'll only see me with Fenders now, my how people change.
BUt I'd love to get my hands on one of those Jaguar baritones

IMO an Invader will lose almost all defination at such a low tuning...a Duncan Distorion however will not. I would try a Distortion set or a Distortion bridge and a Jazz neck...other that that I would say maybe a Dimebucker in the bridge...and combo of these would do fine for you I think.

I agree that the Dimebucker or Distortion would be awesome pick-ups for the B tuning, but the Invader had clarity in my guitar, maybe it was because of the nice ESP and the locking tuners, but I rocked out to a lot of Slipknot and Metallica on the guitar and can testify that it still had plenty of clarity.
I never had a Distortion on there, so theres a great chance it could have been more clear than it was, but while I owned the guitar, I liked it.

I couldn't disagree more The Invader is a little more fuzzy than the Distortion, but lends itself extremely well to low tunings, at least down to G#. Below that, it may lose some clarity 
I wholly recommend the Invader for any and all metal applications.
However, if In Flames and Soilwork are your target sounds, EMGs may be in order. In Flames = EMG 85s, and I think the Soilwork guys use 81s.

Dime tuned down to B in Damageplan. Well, it was C# in dropped B.

hmm, you're going more into dimebag's technique there now
you'd have to look at your amp and EQ settings to get very much closer to any particular band's tone.. any of the choices the fellas put forward above will give you a very nice metal tone you can shape to your own tastes
As far as amps go, i've always associated bands like in flames with european hi-gain amps.. ENGL, perhaps diezel, and bogner + soldano from the U.S. camps..
might be worth looking into digital moddeling stuff which emulates these types of amps?

In Flames use 5150s. That thing is just hella-versatile.

The Invader is just really thick, but it's still clear. It does need different eq'ing than other high-output 'buckers, though. I really enjoy playing it with the gain dimed, and rolling back the guitar's volume knob. It gets really growly around 4 or 5.
It's kinda like Henry Rollins... big & tough enough to kick your ass, but still quite capable of deep thought & intelligent expression

That's from the June '04 GW. Jesper Stromblad doesn't go into as much detail about his rig, but he's endorsed by Gibson, and plays the VooDoo series. I've seen him pictured with a stock VooDoo V.

man, i stand corrected
wouldnt the 5150 be opened up really loud for that kinda tone? for what our man kike is after, the amp models i mentioned would be the ones you could identify on a POD, spider or vetta the quickest...
still, i stand totally corrected on the 5150 thing - i didnt know they were so popular amongst big artists! (apart from EVH and puya, the advertised ones)

Oh yeah. Tons of people use them (especially extreme metal & hardcore guys), and sound nothing alike. You never hear someone and say, "Oh, he has that 5150 tone", unlike something like a Triple Rectifier. A buddy of mine has one, and the first time I plugged in, my jaw dropped at how much gain it has. I'm totally shocked that an EVH amp has that much distortion.

i've never really gotten the chance to crank 'em.. they have a couple at the practice rooms i use, and any attempt to get the poweramp section really opening up has the other band members get annoyed..
(the rooms are very small, BTW, and i only ever get the chance to play bass in metal groups.. *sigh*)
the 5150's have turned out like the original les paul in a way.. the likes of in flames and even jimmy page played nothing like Mr. Les Paul, the same way in flames and the other bands sound nothing like van halen
still.. aren't the 5150's 120w? i always thought that was overkill in itself hehe
