pickups for esquire

hi all,

i'm looking for a pu to fit my next project, which is going to be
a selfbuilt esquire (old tele with just bridge pu). ash(erle) body w maple neck ...
what do you think?; would a STL3 Quarter Pound fit for dirty/vintage
blues/bluesrock? :smokin:

I'd go for a Tele Hot Tapped or a QP Tapped. Then you'll be able to use your selector switch to choose the full output or lower/vintage output. Lew

hmm, this seems to be a quite popular esquire mod.
a friend of mine said the same. 'go get a sd tapped pu and use a 5w switch'

i dunno if i will ever need it. somehow i would need to feel the difference
between pedal volume boost and tapped pu switch. there is definately a
difference, but i can't visualise it

You won't need a five way switch though unless you plan to use a neck pickup.

Your three way switch is more than enough to tap a Duncan Tapped Tele bridge pickup.

If you can find one of the older 10K Nocasters, that would be pretty cool and keep the stock cosmetics...Kid Ramos has a pretty hot stock pu in his old Esquire and that thing sounds unbelievable.

Don't tule out the Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Hot T either. This pup is real sleeper in the blues/rock realm. From classic twang to P-90 girth with a twist of the tone control. YMMV of course, but for my needs, it's a great sounding pickup.

get a Broadcaster tapped 3 times at 6K and run it up to 8k and 11k
