Pickups for Fender Jaguar HH

Within a week I'll be ordering one of the Fender Jaguar Classic Player HH's (With the trem), and from my research the pickups are really hot and really meh.

Me on the other hand usually lean more towards clean but sometimes go up to play modern hardcore (Think from Eisley all the way to Underoath). My band plays originals usually using some form of delay but leaning more harder rock. I'd try the originals out but I'd rather order the pickups now with the guitar and not have to wait a week to order everything.

The guitar has an Alder Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fretboard, and my amp is a Peavey Classic 50 2x12 which I love with JJEl84's and Sovtek 12ax7lps, and one Mullard 12ax7 reissue in v1.

I like my bridge to be able to have all the gain I'll need I prefer the output coming from the pickup but not so hot where it'll be compressed I want clarity and punch. I play mainly lead but obviously rhythm has to be done sometimes.

The neck on the other hand I like sweet and chimey which the 24" scale will help with a little bit. The most i'll do on the neck pickup is light gain but when I do I don't want it to mud out.

If these pickups behaved well together when mixed that would be great too lol but I usually don't mess with middle positions, I just like having the options. I was thinking possibly an A2pro or Phat Cat Neck with a Jb Bridge. My only experience with SD pickups was a Jb/59 combo in a Walnut Explorer E/2 and I remember not liking the 59 at all (too bitey) and the JB was too bottom heavy for me then again at the time I was using a Mesa Rectifier with a Splawn Cabinet and I remember not knowing how to use that amp at all (Mesa settings are quirky at the least).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Pickups for Fender Jaguar HH

a phat cat neck would definitely get you sweet cleans and chime, though with the stock a2/a2 magnet setup, it may not have enough top end and may have too mushy of lows. a3,a4, and a5 magnets are all viable options to help get more top end and tighter lows out of this pickup. personally i use an a4/a5 phat cat in the neck, and it's got a well defined sound throughout it's sound range, with very meaty mids. as far as a bridge pickup, your description of mostly lead with not too much compression brought the custom8 to mind. bloodrose has a whole thread over 100 posts around here somewhere titled "custom 8 paradise". there's a ton of useful info on that pickup there.

Why not wait to see what you think of the stock units ?
Give it some time to sink in, and then decide if you do not like the stock ones !
