Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

Hey everyone, it's very possible that I will get an Ibanez Artcore AFS75T soon, so I was looking for pickups for it (because the originals are not exactly great). I have the Jazz and JB in my Schecter C-1 Classic, and they are very nice (the guitar is very nice too), but the JB is a little abrasive sounding at times. I'm more pleased with the Jazz in the neck. So what pickup is kind of like the JB but a little less harsh sounding at high volume? And, what pickup, if any, would be a better choice for the neck (for the styles listed) than the Jazz? This guitar will be used for punk, jazz, some harder rock, and blues.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

you might want to try to keep the stock pickup for a while and see if it really needs a change. My AM73 has been with me for 1 year and it still with it's stock pickup and I've been happy with it. I only play blues and jazz with it, btw.

And btw, Artcore is amazing. My guitar had amazed many people. The built, the sound, the feel, and more importantly after I told them its price hahaha, it's so cheap that made their jaw drop. This made in china product really outstanding.

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

What color is yours? I was really GASsing for a teal AFS75T, but they seem to be sold out. The AFS77T in metallic grey is right behind it.

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

That would be the AFS75TDTQ, which has apparently been discontinued and replaced by the AFS75TDOB...which is much less cool looking.

Here's my thread about it: https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=62490

Don't make me fight you for the next one on eBay. :D

Yeah man, that guitar is awesome! We must be the only two fans. I'll let you buy the next one...

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

the stock pickups in my AS83 aren't bad at all, and they are both ceramic.

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

The stock pickups in my buddy's AFS75 leave me limp. They tend to be pretty harsh and undefined. For general purpose, I'd probably lean towards a low-med output pup in the PAF vein. For a bit more flavor, I'd probably put some Phat Cats or Z-90s in. And for full-on "Gee, I wish I had a Gretsch"-mode, I'd buy some TV'trons.

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

i'd normally say a seet of seths .. but for what you are looking to play, i'd say either a set of 59s or a CC/AIIP set, depending on which direction you want to take it ...

good luck

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

I want to get one of those artcores, get a real Bigsby, and do a pair of TV'trons.

Kind of like poor man's Gretsch.

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

OK, so far, I'm considering:

-A pair of '59s
-A pair of Phat Cats
-Custom Custom (Bridge) + Alnico Pro II (Neck)
-Custom 5 (Bridge) + Jazz (Neck)
-A pair of Seth Lovers

Any thoughts?

And, to whoever asked it'll be this one:

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

retain the Jazz in the neck- it's one heck of a humbucker there- unmatched IMO.

the bridge:

-'59/ Alnico II Pro
-Pearly Gates for a little more midrange sting

Re: Pickups for Ibanez Artcore

OK, I think I'm gonna go for the Alnico II Pro in the bridge and the Jazz in the neck. Good idea?
