Pickups for Ibanez s470qm

I need something that will stay tight and articulate in highgain and lower tunings and will sound good in a mahogony body. I have emgs in it now and want to go back to duncans. I was thinking tb-6b, or a tb5 and a jazz in the neck. I also was thinking of getting a med output pickup in the bridge because I play mostly modern metal. I'm playing the ibanez through a engl savage120 and genz benz 2x12. Any suggestions?. Thanks...

welcome to the forum!!

my suggestion would be a tb5 custom in the bridge and a sh2n jazz for the neck. youll have a nice focused sound thatll work great for detuning

I suggest you try out the Distortion. It will remain articulate in high gain situations and should work well in mahogany. Detuning won't work against this pickup, it will stay articulate and tight.

I know modern metal players like ballsy chords and articulate notes for solos, you may have to look no further than the Distortion.

my mahogany Ibanez guitars sport the following Duncans in the bridge:

RG321- Custom

S540- Invader

RGA121- JB

all of these handle distortion very well, the tightest bottom end comes from the Invader (predictably) but if you are looking for some midrange definition, the JB has it.

Jazz neck is a superb suggestion.

Maybe I'll buy the tb-5 and tb-6. I used to have an invader in it but switched to the emgs about 3 years ago and can"t remember what the invader sounds like in it. I recently had my strat routed out so I could put my invader in it, which made me want to go back to passives. I just switched my 81 and 85 around and am liking the 85 in the bridge better for rhythms, but i am still going to switch back to the duncans. Thanks for the welcome guys...

The Distortion is the one.I a very happy with it.And i always play dropped C!!!.all clips in my soundclick where made with the Distortion.Check it out
