Hey james, i noticed you are in Australia, I also am (newcastle)

Where are you going to buy these pickups from? (just curious)

I'm looking to get another seymour duncan, but the prices over here are double the price of the US - so i think my next pickup purchase will be on ebay from the US.

Oh yeah, i can only comment on the Jazz neck, i have one (put it in the bridge) and it sounds pretty good, covers a lot of distorted territory in my covers band.

I looked on the net and there are a few american electronics (guitar p/ups/ pots etc) shops that will ship worldwide and it ends up cheaper then quotes i got from australian shops.
But i am not probably going to get new p/ups soon (i am saving up on getting a gretsch)

James, just remember you could get tax problems with items shipped from the US. But I don't know the rules in Australia.

i don't know the tax rules for australia, but i do know from experience that ups and fedex are bad news for shipping out of the u.s. there brokerage fees are outrageous (especially ups) for example, i bought a fender strat for 235 canadian a few weeks ago that the seller was supposed to ship united states postal service. he shipped ups instead and it cost me $52 canadian for brokerage fees (on top of our canadian govt 7% gst - about $20) and the shipping cost.

whenever i buy online from the u.s., i ask first if they will ship united states postal service..if they won't..i have to factor the brokerage fees in. and i don't think it's a consistent rate..seems to be whatever ups feels they can get away with charging! i remember paying $40 canadian brokerage fees on a $60 canadian stick of memory..that was my first painful lesson with ups

united states postal service does not seem to charge brokerage fees. i've never been nailed for brokerage fees in 50 plus transactions across for the border for guitar and computer part sent to me. and sometimes for some reason, i don't even get charged the canadian 7% gst..go figure!

I was holding off on this, but since someone else mentioned it first - How about the Pearly Gates neck and Custom Custom bridge. I have this in my Epi LP and I have to say, it's the best overall sound I have. Bridge can go vintage in a 59' sort of way and the PG cleans up nicely with a little volume tweek. Classic 59 neck sound, but it can hot up a bit if I want - and FAT. The Custom Custom has some serious cut with the mid peak, yet isn't too hot to also clean up with volume, although not as easily as the PG. It's hand down my prefered "Zep" tunes guitar (awesome through my Pro Junior!). It cutting, yet fat and smooth all over the place and can crunch if you want!

Now for the really cool part - those two pups mix in all kinds of cool ways!!! The scoop on the PG plus the mid peaked CC give an awesome full sound. Work a little volume and tone and all sorts of shades are available: PG with more mid peak, CC with fatter bottom - just all sorts of neat stuff.

The PG isn't that much different than the 59, and the CC is an A2 mag also.

A PG neck and CC bridge in my 57 goldtop is pretty damn sweet!:cool2: Jason
