Pickups for my 78 LP

I've got a '78 Gibson Les Paul with a Dimarzio pickup in the bridge and it's really starting to bother me. I bought the guitar used about a year ago and it came with the pickup already in the bridge. I play through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 4x10 tube amp. I play mainly rock and blues and I really dig Marc Ford's tone on the Black Crowes Southern Harmony. He's got very smooth, bright, mid-rangey tone. I was thinking about the Alcino Pro II. I'm definitey not looking for the Dimarzio cracky distortion I've got now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Alnico II pro's are a great set of pickups and they are outstanding for rock and blues.

Danei - I have a 77 LP and I've had lots of Duncan pickups in it. I have also owned a Hot Rod Deluxe (sounds like you might have the Deville?).
I highly recommend a Seth Lover bridge and an alnico 2 neck pickup for that guitar. That combo is very versatile, from classic rock to hard rock. Both of those pickups have personality with lots of style.
The amp certainly has a big influence on the sound. I had a hard time getting a Marshall-like tone from my HRD. I think Mark Ford used a Marshall 2204 at one time or another, and it definitely sounds that way to me.
