Pickups for new Ibanez...

Re: Pickups for new Ibanez...

Sounds to me like you need DiMarzio. For those kinds of bands a DiMArzio high output model would work well. Try the pickup finder at their site and fill out the requisite forms.

Eh? I don't understand that answer at all. He already said Opeth use Full Shreds and Tool use JBs, so why would he need to go DiMarzio, when he's asking about Duncans?
I'm not being a Duncan fanboy, I like DiMarzio's too, but your reply seems a tad strange to me. :cool2:

Ibanez players do tend to go DiMarzio, I don't know why, but you could do worse than a Super Distortion bridge if you DID want to go DiMarzio.

Personally, for metal I'd say a JB or Duncan Distortion will sort you right out.

Re: Pickups for new Ibanez...

Surely you realize that DiMarzio pickups are made for shredders like Vai, Satriani, Gilbert, Petrucci, and Malmsteen, while Duncans are for metal dudes. If you put DiMarzios in your guitar, you'll be a shredder, but if you go with SD you'll play head-banging stuff. The choice between Coke and Pepsi will yield similar results. :14:

heh, of course. how silly of me

Re: Pickups for new Ibanez...

Thanks for all the advice guys! I'm putting in a JB bridge and '59 neck to start, and doing some coil tapping for fun too. I'll see how i like them and swap magnets or whatever from there if i'm not happy.
