I am using a boss gt3 straight through the pa.- I dont use amps at all now
Is there any pickup combination which is geared towards playing through processors /

Re: pickups for processors

DiMarzio PAF Pro, PAF Joe, FRED, Mo' Joe, Breed, and Evolution pickups were designed to stay clean and clear through heavy processing.

Steve Vai uses the Breed and the Evolution models (they were designed specifically for him). Paul Gilbert (sometimes) uses dual PAF Pro models. Joe Satriani uses the FRED, PAF Joe, and the new Mo' Joe.

Hope that helps.

I'm pretty sure you can also count the Steve's Special, Drop Sonic, and Air Norton, because John Petrucci uses or has used those, and he uses tons of effects and amps.

EMGs aswel then, active pickups maintain their signal through heavy processing etc..hence Dave Gilmour liking them.

Re: pickups for processors

I have to second the "Highly Processed / Actives" post, the effect is noticable... but not a reason in itself to go active..

If it sounds good , it sounds good, and in the end nobody gives a rat´s ass what´s under the hood ;)

I was going to say Evolution or Paf Pro.

Im not really a huge fan of the evo, but its so much fun for soloing with too much gain, delay, chorus, reverb, harmonizing, etc.

I think the Breed and Tone Zone might both be a little too full-sounding for loads of effects.
