Pickups for RG560 HSS

Hi Guys ;o)

I just bought an old RG560 (24 frets + basswood + Floyd) and it needs new pickups....

I kind of want to let the singlecoils deside, as I want to be able to get as close as possible to classic strat neck sound like (I know they sound different)Hendrix, KWS and Timmons.

I have thought about Virtual vintage blues, but I don't know if it is hot enough beeing a bit thin sounding guitar.

Anyway....what single coils do you suggest and what humbucker would fit for a balanced sound?

Re: Pickups for RG560 HSS

For a Hendrix-y sound, I would deliberately fit unbalanced single coils. Specifically, the SD APS-1L with the left-handed polepiece magnet stagger pattern. (Yes, I do realise that the combination of a shallow radius fingerboard and vintage-style magnet heights will create issues. IMO, these are part of the Hendrix sound.)

Otherwise, equal height polepieces are the way to go. Unfortunately, the pickup that I would like to suggest is not available from the production floor. A Five-Two with equal height poles would be fabulous. Shame that SD sees fit not to manufacture it. Custom order only.

I would just think that APS-1 was too thin (cold) for a 24 fret thin sounding baswood guitar. Shouldn't the neck pu be a bit hotter and have a little more 'body'?

If you wanna go Duncan...SSL-5/SSL-1/Full Shred

If you wanna go Dimarzio...Chopper/Cruiser/AT-1
