Pickups for Showmaster SSS -- for leads

Robert Delahunt

Showmasterologist
I have been bitten by GAS again.

I recently bought a Fender Showmaster HH and I am going to put the Full Shred set into it.

I want to buy a Showmaster SSS and drop three hum-canceling pickups in it and basically configure this Showmaster SSS like the Showmaster HH: for leads. What would you drop in such a guitar if this were you?

I have ideas, like Classic Stack neck and middle with Custom Stack bridge, or the Cool Rails / Vintage Rails / Hot Rails configuration, but ignore my ideas and give me your own ideas as to what would be the closest thing to a Full Shred Showmaster HH, but in SSS configuration. Thanks in advance!

Bump.

OK, maybe the better question is do any of you play fusion style stuff in a basswood guitar with single coils, and if so, what pickups did you use, and how well do they work for you?

Not Basswood, but plywood. This is the EMG S set. It just can't be more silent.

With the tone control on 5, it sounds simply gorgeous, specially on record.

With this set, the right height is paramount to get that polished, only-heard-on-record tone.

I'm more than happy with this set. Makes a hundred bucks guitar sound like a million dollars!

HTH,

I've had great luck with the lil demon in the neck and bridge of my MIJ strat. I haven't used a full shred so I can't compare the tones.
