Pickups for telecaster

What pickup combo Neck/Bridge should I get for my Tele to get as close as possible to matching the output of my Les Paul (Slash Alnico II set).....I'm thinking either Hot rails set or a hot rails and quarter pound neck...I know it will not be exact but I'm trying to get as close as possible for live playing situations. Thanks!!!

Welcome to the forum!

The closest might be a Hot Tele neck with a Little '59 bridge. The Little 59 won't sound very Tele like, however. A Quarter Pound Tele bridge is closer to the sound of a Tele, though darker. A Hot Rails might be more output than a typical LP pickup.

Re: Pickups for telecaster

If you're okay with Custom Shop priced, a set of Strabro90s made for Tele would be pretty rocking. It's basically a set of single coil sized P90s that are tapped to reduce them to a more vintage output. Other than that, there are very few production Tele pickups that could reach even A2 Pro levels of output while maintaining a Tele tone, if that's what you want.

A boost pedal and more traditional Tele pickups could also get you equal in output with IMO a better tone. If there's one thing a Tele is good at, it's sounding like a Tele. They can be really hit or miss when you try to make them something they don't want to be.
