pickups not picking up

hey all,
i still have stock pu's in my jackson rhoads style, and whenever i bend really high up on the fret board, the sound dies as i bend... is this because the pu's arent rails? or is it just that theyre cheap stock ones?

When played unplugged, does the sound die off too?

From your description, it seems as if you're just fretting out.

yea it dies off all the time... so by that do u mean my frets are worn?

Nope. the fret board radius is probably killing away your strings. Frets might be worn but fretting out i doubt is a indication of fret wear.

Raise your action a bit and you should see some improvement. You'll need to adjust and test it until you find a good compromise between the action and clear bends.
