Do the speed knobs fit fine knurled or do they fit coarse knurled pots?

They only make them for one or the other. I know that you can jam them on the wrong size post, and I've done it in the past, but there's a risk of breaking the pot, or never getting them off. Better to have the right knob for the right pot.

They only make them for one or the other. I know that you can jam them on the wrong size post, and I've done it in the past, but there's a risk of breaking the pot, or never getting them off. Better to have the right knob for the right pot.

How do you know which ones you have if you don't have some of the other kind to compare them to?

You can count the splines. Coarse knurled has 18 splines, and fine knurled has 24 splines.
