Pickups similar to the Custom?

Those square bobbins are just bobbin toppers. It's nothing more than that.
Yeah, but they kinda look cool even if they do nothing for the sound. The problem is matching them, I suppose. And that they're kinda expensive, and I don't think they've got anything that makes them "better" than Duncans or DiMarzios.

But they do look cool. At least to me.

PRS is kinda hit or miss when it comes to design. Sometimes they're cool like the bobbins or the pickup rings or the cool knobs. Sometimes they're attrocious like the tuner tips they made a fuss about and the Silver Sky headstock, LOL.

If anything, I have to agree with the marketings squawk. It's a PAF on Steroids. Construction be damned because any two pickups can read the same and sound way different.

The 59 is the most "Custom" like pickup in the Duncan line. I am a SuperD aficionado and they are just not that similar

Distortion: bass MIDS TREBLE
Custom: BASS mids TREBLE
Invader: BASS MIDS treble
[DImebucker: BASS MIDS and MORE TREBLE]

That's your Duncan big three +1 breakdown. The Invader is the most SuperD like to me. But even that isn't the same. A SuperD is different than any of those.

Yeah I am not that crazy about those new tuner buttons either haha. Back to the HFS, when Paul was making his pre-production guitars (Santana I) before he started winding pickups he was using the Custom as the bridge pickup in those guitars. I believe Carlos's first PRS still has that pickup in it. So there was definitely some inspiration there, it's got it's own sound but is in that vein.
