pics: hamer satf or agile al-3000?

hey guys,

a few of us decided to chip in to buy a guitar for a fellow buddy. with $360, we were thinking of either the hamer imported flame top or agile al-3000. both happened to be $360. that said, i will appreciate any advice to which we should be getting.

wow thats a tough choice, i can personally vouch for the agiles though as i own one and its a killer axe for the money

I have played both and They both play very nice. I would have to say the Hamer though, I like the finish better. I also like were the tone and volume knobs set at.

i called our local hamer dealer and he quoted 2 prices for the satf. he said one was made in korea and the other, china. price difference is almost $130. anyone know about this?

Haven't played the Agile, but own a Hamer SATF in blueburst. I haven't found the right pups for it yet, but the fit and finish are very good. I love the way it feels and plays.

I have not played the MIC Hamers, but have played the MIK's. I would pay the extra for the korean model. I have a couple guitars that are from korea and they are far better, IMO, than the chinese.

Look at it this way, do you want a guitar from someone who can build nooks or from someone who makes crappy english dubbed marial arts movies. :duh: :evil:

Well, never played a hamer satf but I own an agile 2500 and it's a really nice guitar for the money you pay... hard to beat...

I'd say Agile...

This is a dead heat. They both are very good for the price. I have played both and they are equivalent. (Assuming the Hamer is Korea made.)

The Hamer imports are now made in China. The ones made in Korea are better guitar. The ones made in China are cheaper cost and playablity wise.

There are a lot of Korean Hamers still available. Check out Ebay.

I have an Agile 3000 and its a great guitar, especially with the Ebony FB, and Grover Tuners.

Look closely at the specs and materials. I am on the same hunt at the moment and the Agile 3000 definitely looks like more guitar for your money IMHO.

+1 for the agile. I love my 2500 goldtop. The 3000 looks really nice.

Another vote for the Agile. Never like the doublecut shape and the Agile seems like a cool bargain.

Never played either but just from a cosmetic standpoint I'd say the Hamer.
