Looking at the quality of the components in that amp, especially the transformer, I can tell that amp is gonna sound just like clean Hendrix with a 50th Anniversary maple neck strat Armotron has. You'll want to hear that fat tone monster with some OD pedals and a 4-12 cab! You're neighbors are gonna hear you from 2 blocks away, with that setup! Point to point amps put out some meaty volume! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I'm more worried about his mom.... ;) She is not going to like me very much.

Dont worry, im going to be issuing earplugs to everyone in the house to be worn at all times!

Oh yes, and the neighbors, of course. :duh:

Through my Two Rock 2x12, I had some incredible Trower Bridge of Sighs thing going for a while, then went into some old ZZ Top, then went into some Van Halen. Finally got down the Tele and knocked out some Stones.

I now understand the Marshall allure.

Like Scott...

KT-66 Sounds famillar.

I still have the ones you gave me! This type tube sounds better in this amp than it did in that Tweed.

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

Killer looking amp Scott and the JTM-45 is a great amp to make a killer boutique, PTP wire clone of.

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

looks awsome scott. Pity you dont make anything for the lower area of the budget

I initially thought that too, but that thing is so gorgeous it makes me want to work harder and raise my budget. ;)

Beautiful amp Scott.

Artie

Edit: No offense . . . just noticed your age.

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

Mmm...that looks gorgeous

A question, Scott. Would it be possible for you to make this with EL34's, a switch, an SS rectifier, and the gain of a JCM800?

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

It can easily be converted to EL34's and a solid state rectifier. Gain of a JCM800? I have to admit that I'm not familiar enough over the years with JCM800's to really answer that question. There is no master volume though.

This thing can get downright nasty though. With the EL34's and SS rect, it gets a lot more Plexi-ish.

I'd love to be able to. I'll have to ask you to trust me when I say this (and some of you will), the cost of the parts that go into these are pretty high, especially the US-made transformers and the US-made cabinets. It would probably suprise you to know that the power and standby switches on this amp cost about $5 each. I won't get into other high cost, high reliablitiy small items as you can look them up on the net.

I'm not complaining, cuz I love this stuff. Just pointing out that it is impossible for one guy to build low budget stuff by hand. THe only way you can crank out a low budget amp is to mass produce them on circuit boards and hire sweatshop labor to put it all together. The transformers I use cost more than a lot of the budget amps out there. But, that's where the biggest tone difference lies... transformers.

Take a look at the amp kits that Weber sells. Chinese parts whereever possible it seems. It's great bang for the buck if you put it together yourself, but if you hired someone to build it for you for say $200-250, now you're up near what I am charging for this Edana head! Take that one step further. I'm going to warranty my stuff for 2 years. There's a potentially huge hidden cost involved there as well. Lots of factors to consider if you really put it all down on paper some time.

My goal is to keep it in the $1000 or less price range for heads. If I can do that and make a little money in the process, it's worth it. I really love it. If it gets to be too much of headache, I'll either raise prices or I'll stop doing it and properly finish out the warranties of the ones I've already sold.

I'm pretty good at starting successful businesses. This will hopefully be my third. :beerchug:

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

understandable. I know the price for whats in that is amazing. But I didn't know it was impossible for you to make cheaper amps for certain reasons. Thanks for the answer.

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

I wish I could because then I'd build myself about 20 different types and I'd be very very happy.... ;)

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

that looks great. How hard is it for you to let it go? Is it the first you've built and sold?

You missed my point, which is that I am a great fan of KT-66 tubes, expecially in the early bluesbreaker type JTM-45 circuits.

When do you want clips made?

Mine is on the table....maybe you can do some of it before it ships out? Give everyone a little taste!

BTW Scott, I never mentioned that I wasn't thrilled when you chose the names of 2 of my daughters for 2 of your amps, but named this one Edana.

My Kaleigh doesn't understand why I'm calling her Edana now:rolleyes:

Actually jeremy has my very first, serial number 001. I own 002 and 003, so this is 004.

It's not hard considering that I have so many boxes in my work room that I can barely get in there! I'm shipping Alex's today, hopefully Puckboys by the end of the week and Finally, I'll have some room to work. ;)
