He bro...I dig it, and I will also tell you this...I started with far worse equipment!

My early gigs were played with a "Lincoln" Les paul copy (crappy bolt neck, MIJ) with a Radio Shack 20 watt PA head, a Peavey 1x12 PA cab (I didn't even know that I should have disconnected the HF horn!), and a DOD 250 preamp that I got real cheep used...I thought I was hot **** when I got my first set of aftermarket pickups!!! I wanted a set of Duncans (Distortion and a Jazz...but they cost too muh money...but the nice guy behind the counter had a set of used DiMarzio Super Distortions...they sucked, but they were better than the bad single coils in humbucker covers in my Linclon!!!

That's a perfectly modest setup for a 13 year old who just got into the game. Give yourself 10 years time and see where you're at!

How does that work?

I wanted to upgrade guitars...I sold the Linclon and took all the money I had and was gonna buy another guitar...I saw an ad that said "Fender Strats $299.00"...well, I had about $325.00, give or take...so I went and they were "sold out"...the only Fender guitar they had was a Jag-Stang...it was $299.00...I was young and dumb so I bought it...what a piece of SH!T!

I actually saved up some more money and bought the Linclon back!

That scared me away from Fender guitars for the better part of 10 years!

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

hey man that looks like a prety cool beginers setup you got, ive seen lot worse, atleast it all looks new and in perfect condition! I recon it can sound great to setup properly.
I started off with a fender frontman i had to use a string a lever and ductape to hold the jack at a "precise" location and if i hit the amp acidently i had to find that "spot" again lol.. and i borowed this old messed up guitar a friend had laying arround with melted pickups, rusted bridge, realy bad setup & intonation, the guitar didnt even have laquer, someone had sanded it to have the "wood" look.. anyways you get the idea lol It sounded like **** sometimes tho i remember using a metal zone and creating some fun sounds with it. I ended up buying it off him anyways making a wierd deal (after i bought my strat, so "technicaly" it wasnt my first guitar) to then, like a year later, find the serial num. and research it to realize its an Ibanez AR50! I did a huge job on it and i stil own it today.

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

Yeah, bro. That's not bad at all for your first set of gear. I used one of those amps when I was taking guitar lessons. My first amp was A LOT worse than that. That one's not too bad. I would have liked to have had time to adjust the EQ. There were some students that just jacked it up. Rock out on that for a few years until you get a job, save up, and get you a guitar and amp you like better. I promise it won't seem like it took that long.

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

Why are you complaining? Thats a damn nice setup for someone your age.

When i started, I started on a $99 BC Rich warlock, and a give-away BC Rich 10watt amp, the gain channel sounded like the amp was going to explode, and not in a good way. It didnt even have an EQ on it.

I upgraded to a peavey transtube 258, it was an alright amp until I changed the pickups in my warlock, then the amp sounded like crap, so I traded it in with some money for the roland cube 60. then thats where I went gear nuts and bought my platinum pro, vox AD30VT, Telecaster, and eventually bought my peavey classic 50.

Just wait man, it will come in time, but until then I dont see why you are calling that crappy, it kills a squier with a fender frontman amp.

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

There is nothing wrong with your gear bro, I could gig with it. We all start with gear that isn't quite what we want.....I had a Kimberly hollowbody with single crap coils and a fake bigsby through an old stereo receiver to start off with. I thought i was the schiznit when I got the MXR distortion +. In no time you will have the gear & chops that you want if you want them bad enough.

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

ok...can some mod edit the "(crappy)" part outta the title...
and ya, I'll give myself time and see how I'm doing :laugh2: hell, i could give my self 2 months(depending on how eBay goes(don't ask...if you know...well...you know) then we'll see how much better my stuff it than this ;)

And yeah, that Raptor has got to be one of the best looking trans red I've ever seen that didn't have a flamed or quilted top.

That's an amazing lawn. Where do you live??

I like the color of the axe too. :D

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

consider yourself lucky...!

realize that at 13 this is not a competition on who has the "best" gear. (i know you realize that, just don't feel bad about what you have) i don't know what i would give to have started playing guitar at 13! keep playing and practicing and you'll continually upgrade...!?

time goes by so fast...you'll look back someday and wish you still had that gear! it will be sentimental to you in the future!

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

Re: Pics of my (crappy) gear

If that peavey plays nice i'd keep it and mod the hell out of it over the next few years, do it up XSSIVE style, because that colour and shape is very nice.

Good luck in upgrading your gear as you grow older, i can see you already have some serious GAS from your sig!
