Pics of your Floyds?

Help me out, guys. I'm a newb when it comes to setting up fully floating Floyds. Like the saying goes: A picture is worth a thousand words.

Not sure how much this helps but here you go.

Thanks! It helps quite a bit. I guess what I'm lookingnfor specifically is to see how recessed and how parallel/flat the plate is in relation to the guitar's top.

Re: Pics of your Floyds?

I find due to the shallow-ness & tolerances of Floyd saddles, a bit of tilt in the forward direction can negatively affect the ability of the string to ring out properly.

Re: Pics of your Floyds?

Mine is pretty much dead paralell to the body. I do use a tremolo stabilizer becase that axe is mainly used for metal and I do a lot of palm muting. Without the tremolo stabilizer I found myself constantlly pulling the guitar sharp when I rested my palm on the bridge.

Re: Pics of your Floyds?

I set mine up as flat as possible too. It takes slot of adjusting back and forth to get the balance right so the string tension and spring tension match each other. I also plan to install a Tremel-No or something similar on mine when I change the wiring and get the final pickups in.

Re: Pics of your Floyds?

Mine is set up flat as can be.

ditto. worked hard to get mine all flat.
Only my 80s Kramer had a trem stop on it.. but I removed it when I put a big brass block on it.
Sorry, not able to get photos at this time

It must be because I'm a bass player, but when I palm mute, I usually rest my thumb joint on the body just above the bridge. Picking right at the top edge of the bridge pickup ring.
Anybody else?

Don't have my guitar with me at work, but as everyone has said set the plate parallel to the body. On some of the Ibanez Edge trems, you have to go by the bottom of the plate since the plates are cast and there is an angle between the bottom and top of the plate.

FWIW, I usually put one of these in all of my floating trem guitars, greatly increases stability while still allowing pull ups. http://www.fu-tone.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70&products_id=222

I have tried the Tremol-no and honestly, I'm not a fan. If you have it set for full floating it does nothing for stability, and if you try to turn it "on and off" on the fly, it's really easy to screw up your tuning if you aren't careful when you tighten the screws.
