Looks fantastic! Unfortunately I hear they suck.

Did they do any back catalogue?

Awesome pictures! I can't see how they could suck, with Satch on guitar..Lotsa nice plugs for Marshall in the backround also.

The concert was great!!!
They were really rock'in!
Two days later, I'm still really excited about it.

If you get a chance, DEFINITELY go see/hear them!

The whole thing just looks like a marketing exercise/corporate sponsorship deal. I wonder how much they're getting from Marshall and Ibanez ?

They're 50+ year old professional musicians, not teenaged angsty punk rockers bucking social norms; so does it matter?

I so would love to catch them live. They're just having a good time playing some cool rock songs. They've earned the right to do what they want. IMO, the album rocks.

I just don't see this. Sorry.

Do you not know that Joe has been playing Ibanez guitars for years and was playing through Marshall amps for years before going to Peavey. In fact, he approached Marshall for an amp to use on the tour, not the other way around. Michael's been playing Yamaha basses for years too. Only thing changed with him is his amp. He's using a Peavey bass rig now, per recommendation from Joe (read that in an interview).

:banghead:

Re: Pictures from the Chickenfoot show at Portsmouth, VA

I read that interview too, I think it was right before they headed to Australia.

I think it was right before the tour started in Europe. I could be wrong. All I know is that they weren't in the U.S. when that happened.

Joe is like a 600 lb. gorilla. And where does a 600 lb. gorilla sleep? Anywhere he wants to. So, what does Joe play? Anything he wants to.

Hey - I'm just saying, the absolute best reviews I have heard of this album is an underwhelming "meh"

Now - between the three of them, there is a heck of a lot of great tunes available from their previous work. So did they play all Chickenfoot, 50/50, or a few good CF tunes and the rest old/new VH, Sammy, and Satch? That indeed would rock!

Re: Pictures from the Chickenfoot show at Portsmouth, VA

I've got the album and I enjoy it. I would say that it is "meh" in that its nothing revolutionary or even evolutionary. Its simply a group of good veteran musicians who got together and made an album for fun, and if you take it as that then I think it can be great in terms of the fun. I read an interview with Sammy that he was saying the reason they made an album was so they can go out and tour...and I'd say that the album does feel like that.

I imagine that they would be amazing live, just kicking it and having a good time!

Yeah - I mean Sam and Satch don't/couldn't suck. (not so sure about mike!)

But the set list would have a lot to do with my enjoyment. Older is better, IMO.

Re: Pictures from the Chickenfoot show at Portsmouth, VA

I'm digging the red Destroyer Hagar's got.

Re: Pictures from the Chickenfoot show at Portsmouth, VA

I think I've been to that venue, but I forgot whom I saw there. Those pictures came out great. Whenever I take pictures at concerts, they look "artistic" (messy).

Mike is as solid as they come when it comes to keeping a solid rhythm together, IMO. I've seen VH live several times when he was still in the band and the rhythm section never fell out. It's only as good as the sum of its parts and Michael and Chad = dang solid, IMO.

I have to disagree on the older is better. If that's the case, then in 20 years you might actually like them....LOL. I dig it because it's good, fun rock and roll. Nothing fancy, isn't supposed to be.

Oh, and that comment Sammy made about them being the greatest since Led Zeppelin. Can you say, SARCASM! Sammy is a prangster and a joker so when I read that, I knew right away he was not dead serious.

4 rock veterans having fun because they want to. Gotta love it.
