Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

Mmm, nice, the only time I like maple boards on strats is when they are sunburst strats, and that is a nice sunburst strat.

Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

sweet...there's some really good grain in there...

what kind of nut is that?

Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

Nice...looks just like the one I built a couple of weeks ago except I went vintage bone on the nut and Fender '62 RI for the vibrato.

Congrats! Looks like a beauty. Alder body? The prominant grain makes it look like it could be Ash too...

Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

Yup, nice, clean classic Stratocaster. I too, am curious as to what that nut is.

Also, its interesting how the glare of the flash makes the saddles look like white plastic.

(Unless, of course, they are white plastic.) ;)

Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

It's a roller nut. Each string rest on and between two ball bearings. Helps keep it in tune when using the vibrato. Same nut as is used on the original Jeff Beck model Fender Strat. Also used on the Strat Plus. Maybe that's what this guitar is...a Strat Plus?

Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

Lew,

Yes, it's a '90 Strat Plus. The roller nut isnt the common LSR roller nut with 2-balls bearing. The strings rest on a rod, different tech, same results!

And yes, the grain looks like Ash, but I'm 95% sure its Alder.

And no, the saddles arent plastic, but brushed stainless steel, as well as the locking tuners.

Great looking Strat! Chanceux! (well, I read you're 12 times lucky :) )

I'm still pondering if I'll go for a Strat or a semi-hollow for my birthday in May... buying a Strat have been disturbing my sleep for a while now :)

Or how about a semihollow strat? :D

Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

Never really shop for a Strat, is there such thing as a semihollow Strat? I know there are Tele's, but never saw a semihollow Start.

Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

wow thats a really nice guitar! how much did it cost you?

hey sly ive been looking around for some fenders too.

Are the standards worth it or should i just save more for a highway?
What i really want though is a telecaster with a tremolo bridge. i seen the bibsgys but man i never tried one before. i played one of those kinds of tremolo bridges on this ibanez and it felt kinda wierd.

Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

Nice strat! After all this time, I now can officially say that I'm more of a strat fan than a les paul fan. Which one do you like better Thames? (seeing as you own the Edwards and two Fender strats)

:laugh2: Well... it could have been true, some people live in a barn and spend all their money on gear... not family people though :) I hear you allright... I always have to wait before buying a new guitar. Normally a year for a middle quality guitar. Never bought a high-end guitar yet. Don't feel like waiting 2 or 3 years :)

JERMOE: You'll get a better guitar overall with a Highway 1... if your not too impatient, I'd say save a little more. You'll also get a 22nd fret... something I can't do without (many songs I like to play goes up to the 22nd, so a standard Strat with 21 frets wouldn't float my boat). I really like the new Deluxe Player Strat (see there: http://www.fender.com/products/show.php?partno=0133000)

This exact colour in navy blue :32:

Sorry Thames, I stop f?cking up tour post. I'm out of here :)

Re: Pictures of my new Strat !!

It's great to find those 'under the bed' guitars that are over a decade old.
They used better body wood on the early/mid 90's strats than they did on the 98+ strats from what I've seen. I'm wondering what pickups those are, because if it's a Plus, there should be Lace Sensors. If it were mine, I'd change the pickups to an Antiquity II Surfer set with 9.7 Custom A-5 bridge. Also, change the plastic knobs and pickup covers to cream, so it accents the maple neck.

Well, the pickups were changed by previous owner to Fender '57/'62 RI, the 1st run, with non-beveled magnets. They are kinda "interesting"...

I'll stick with them for a while.

Also, the pickguard is turning cream ... it looks bright white on the picture, but is cream, but the pickup covers are white. The previous owner was a smoker... and the case stinks badly! Anyway, that "cream" look is great, and for sure I'll go for cream/aged parts soon!
