piezo on electric guitar! help! Piezo Guru's needed!

I have the crazy idea to mount a piezo pickup on my semi hollow body guitar build.
I don't own an acoustic but need one and this seems to be a viable alternative instead of me having to buy a new acoustic.
I have a spare preamp and undersaddle piezo lying about and I want to use it in this build to get acoustic tones.
I already know about graphtech's ghost and fishman's powerbridge systems but I really can't afford that...
So I'm thinking of removing the crystals from the undersaddle and mounting them to my tune-o-matic bridges saddles using epoxy or some other hard glue... (The signal will go through the preamp and be blended with the electric pickups)

Anybody have experience with piezo's and bridges and that sort of things? Will this work?

any help appreciated thanks!

I had a Tom Anderson with a Fishman Powerbridge Trem and it was killer. I used it with the Fishman Powerblend pedal. Basicly looks line a volume pedal, but you need a stereo cable from the guitar to the pedal. One mono cable from the pedal to your amp, and an XLR out of the pedal to the PA. As you depress the pedal, less acoustic and more electric tones comes out. It was fantastic. The acoustic sounds were pretty believable and the electric sounds were the same as going straight in. Blending the two tones made for some very interesting tones. I miss that setup.

I piezo in a semi hollow sounds like it could work very well. I am going to encourage this idea, just don't know very much about piezos. :)

Sorry to bring this thread up from the graveyard but does anyone have any piezo experience? I've got all the parts I need but I'm having trouble with the application... I've got piezo disk elements and piezo crystal elements as well as a microphone... But I don't know how to mount them to get sufficient pressure to get them to work properly...
Haha I guess ideas and application are worlds apart :)
