Piezoelectric pickup

Has anyone ever installed one on a TOM
Or a TOM style bridge

My question is do I need a battery and preamp
Or not

I plan on putting one on an LP style guitar
So I can do a master volume and tone for the magnetic pickups
And an independent master volume and tone for the piezo

Will I need a battery and an active preamp?
How hard is it to wire up?
Is there a ribbon cable?

Do I need proprietary boards to connect to?

Anyone?

Graph-Tech has Ghost system which you connect like puzzles. It needs a battery. But it has dedicated saddles for most type of bridges.

Almost any good system would need a battery, unless you are using a preamp outside of the guitar. Usually there are proprietary boards connected to ribbon cables (like in my guitar, with an RMC pickup) or quick-connect cables (Graph-Tech).
