Pimp my guitar! (Electronics)

As the thread name states, help me pimp out my guitar by upgrading the electronics. All I know about the guitar is that it's an Agile 3000M from Rondo (minus the improved bridges, any specs are here: http://www.rondomusic.com/al3000prest.html)

A kill switch will be added to the guitar over one of the knobs, but I don't know which tone knob to dispose of (They'll always be on at 10, just hidden inside the cavity). In the bridge is a Custom. The picture is relevant to the thread.

Pots, switches, all that good stuff. Need something for post-rock/alternative/jazz instrumentation.

Not gonna say anything ground breaking here that you wouldn't have found with a quick search but anyway.

Switchcraft toggle switch and CTS pots, 500K, these are the industry standards, no-one really cares if sth more bang-for-the-buck exists simply because at that price-point money is a non-issue.
Just make sure they fit through the holes of your LP.
As a side note, some like the audio or "A" type while others the Linear or "B" type.
The difference is that the Audio type changes at a logarithmic rate that, although practically uneven, follow the way the human ear perceives volume changes whereas the Linear pot does it in even intervals. If you don't know what to get and liked the way your current pots react just check what the say underneath and get the same type.

As for a kill switch, I really don't see the reason when you can just flip the volume knob but I guess you can replace one of the pots with a push/pull or push/push pot.
(A push/pull pot is an ordinary pot that also is a switch.)

That should be sufficient I think...

Re: Pimp my guitar! (Electronics)

I rigged up a kill switch once using a gibson style 3 way switch.

wire the hot wire to the left terminal, solder the 2 middle terminals together, and out to jack on the right terminal.

It will give you get a pretty rapid flutter effect.

Sounds good, sounds good. Three questions:

1) Ericmeyer4, did you actually install a kill switch like the one on the cut in my guitar?

2) What are capacitors and should I upgrade? I remember hearing something about orange caps...

3) Would the bridge being upgraded help at all?

The fast flutter effect was done using a normal LP style 3 way switch.

I've also did a kill switch using a mini toggle in the same guitar and I couldn't quite get the same effect.

And this way you can still have two tone pots left. Making a pot the kill switch would only waste a tone pot and it would be slower engaging it than using the 3 way. Are there 5 way switchs (or any other number higher than 3) that would fit in that LP hole where the 3 way is? Hmmm, how about some major modding where the 3 way is a dedicated kill switch and you put in another 3 way switch by the pots by making another whole. Now that would be pimpin'

I personally like modding the tone pots to split the coils, or at least put them parallel or linear (I think those are the right terms).
