Pimp my tele!!

Re: Pimp my tele!!

For modern rock, the Lil 59 is good, but I'd use a Jazz neck model instead of a STR-2. Add a Megaswitch model P, and you'll be rockin'.

Re: Pimp my tele!!

Three mini humbuckers, master tone knob, 5 way switch, push button to bring in the bridge pickup.

Re: Pimp my tele!!

rout it for 2 humbuckers with one of those gotoh bridges, it'l be different to your new '52 that way.

Re: Pimp my tele!!

I guess it depends just how Tele-like you want this thing to be.

If you just want a sweet rockin' Tele, I can't say enough good things about the Tele Hot Stack. SD's best noiseless single coil by a long shot. Couple that with a '59 or a Jazz in the neck and you'll have a fire-breathing rock Tele.

If you want to go totally koo-koo-pants with this guitar, give it a set of P-Rails! After playing pinto79's Tele with P-Rails in it I'm very impressed.

Re: Pimp my tele!!

had a aff tele made in 02. couldnt get any tone out of it i liked. tried jb/jazz, golden 50s and gfs lil puncher and fat pat combo with 5 way. no resonance at all. (suprize)
sold it and am building a ash/quilt maple, maple neck tele.

I hope yours sounds better than mine did!

Re: Pimp my tele!!

GFS Li'l Punchers maybe? Wonderful sounding pickups for the price, they don't really compare to DiMarzio's or SD's, but why pay more for pickups than you did for the actual guitar?

Re: Pimp my tele!!

SonofaMitch has a cool neck for sale! Would be great for your new purchase!

well up for grabs is my Warmoth Pro construction Tele neck, '59 rounded profile 1 11/16" Nut Width, Stainless Steel frets, Maple/Ebony with a Fully scalloped fretboard, and drilled for schaller/sperzel tuners. She's finished in satin which has smoothed to a nice gloss on the back, very nice and smooth, she plays fast and plays hard. neck is nice and straight and has no issues what so ever. she Is pro construction so she also has the side truss-rod do hickey thingy. why am I trying to unload this you ask? no matter how hard I try I just can't bond with the '59 rounded profile, it's to large for my liking so I'm looking for something of equal value with a slimmer profile. or cash to purchase said neck. (200+shipping) and Q's feel free to PM me or reply to this thread. anyways enough talk. here's the pics! ~Mitch~ [/QUOTE]"]

Re: Pimp my tele!!

I have enough Maple/rosewood neck guitars. I'm looking for all maple! The neck on mine is 'ok'. Playable, and sounds great unplugged.
I'm thinking something 'out there'. How about a Baritone neck? With P-Rails!

Re: Pimp my tele!!

Tapped Quarter Pounders
5-way switch
RS Electronics wiring kit
Joe Barden bridge
Sperzel locking tuners

ROCK THE F*** OUT !!!!!! :D

Re: Pimp my tele!!

Lots of options!! Thanks guys!!! I'm thinking of replacing the neck for sure is its just..hmm..a little thin in my hands. I like the old 50's fat necks.

exactaly! mine felt like a toy. my squier custom tele, however, feels like half a baseball bat and is much better for me as i have large hands. A "c" shape i think they call it.

Re: Pimp my tele!!

I know this is probably a stupid question, but why bother getting a new neck for a cheap squier? You could sell the squier and get an MIM Tele and not need to do many upgrades. Just my 2 cents worth. But if you like the Squier and want to have fun with it, don't let me sway you.

Great point made here as a Warmoth neck will cost more than the guitar.
However.......you could get a Mighty Mite neck for about $150 AUD landed.
Also as suggested earlier, some GFS minis and/or/also some decent output
matched bridge HB, Tele sized, and some trick wiring.
Whatever, DONT get rid of the old parts as you may want to reinstall
them and move the guitar at a later stage and start again.
FWIW you can put together a rather good instrument with quality components
for about $700 Australian, cheaper if you have a decent parts stash.

Good luck and fun with the recipe!!!

Where in OZ are you BTW?
Cheers, Will.
