Pink Floyd - Time solo cover

Re: Pink Floyd - Time solo cover

That was rockin'! Very enjoyable!!

I don't have the guts to try and cover a Gilmour solo!

If that's a POD HD then I'm impressed because I didn't think it would sound that thick. It sounds pretty thick in your solo, and if you ever listened to the Les Paul parts of On An Island, it does a pretty good job of sounding like that.

Re: Pink Floyd - Time solo cover

that was cool - did it take long to get all the feeling right?

I only knew the first part of the solo up until the key change. I learned the rest in an hour or so, most of it is just getting the feel for the bends. I ended up doing quite a few takes actually. It seemed every take I would be just off enough in a bend to piss me off and start over.

Once you try to learn Gilmour's solos you have a lot more respect for what he does. He does a lot of bends up a step and a half, and when that generally isn't part of your playing style it takes a bit to get right.

And there is a lot less room for error when you are playing slow.

Well I guess I should divulge the full setup then :lmao:

It's an Agile Les Paul through the HD500 into Garageband over USB.

I can't remember what pickups I have in the thing, but I vaguely remember it being a PG in the bridge and 59 in the neck. I could be way off on that though.

What's the patch you set up like?

I'll check tomorrow, I believe it's based off the Dr. Z model with reverb and delay.

EDIT: I'm almost positive it's a tweaked version of DR Z LEAD 1 from the Line 6 Custom Tone site, but I'll verify tomorrow.

Just curious, I finally started working up some patches and I like to see how others are putting them together. Did the Steely Dan one I put up the other day and I am putting up a Hendrix patch I am working on too.

I am loving this thing.
