Finally got my long overdue Korg Pitch Black tuner. Hands down this is the best tuner on the market and the best I've owned.

Ive had everything from cheapie Korg GA-20's to Boss TU-2's to the first generation Strobostomp and everything in between.

This pedal just kills everything. Its so smooth and stable in its display, least jumps and jitter of anything I've had.

It also has 4 display modes, though really I can't understand why someone would prefer a strobscopic style over other simplier styles but it is there at least.

Big LCD display and status bars makes this a breeze to see in any type of light and at a distance

and its a very compact inline pedal thats True Bypass and built to last.


Its just the perfect tuner that does everything you could want short of some fo the crazy tuning options on the Peterson (which I nevered used)

This is the ideal tuner to always have in your signal chain. Its transparent, small, stury, accurate and easy to read/use.

Its just perfect and so well thought out. They really listened to musicians and not engineers on this one.

I know its just a tuner and thats not very exciting, but I personally really enjoy getting any product that will make my life easier and this is one of them.

Totally worth $75

I've been using the same Korg DT-10 for a long time and love it.

wow...coming from the king of pedals himself. I may have to look into this. I have never been 100% satisfied with any tuner I have owned.

Ever since my 10$ Seiko tuner arrived my place, and proved to be much more accurate and stable than my TU-2, I've been thinking about getting a new pedal format tuner... Those do look nice.

Stability = less accuracy. Strobe tuners are the most accurate tuners and they are not "stable". This is because the string changes pitch, it does not stay constant. When the string is plucked with force it is slightly sharp and then dies down a little. The most accurate tuners will show this. I like my version 1 Peterson Strobostomp and don't see myself ever using anything else after comparing it to the competition.

This tuner is accurate to within +/- 1 cent. More than good enough for rock and roll and as good if not better than 99% of tuners on the market.

Stability and accuracy are not interelated. I've had some total POS tuners that jumped all over the place and were as much as half a step off. A good tuner can be stable and a bad tuner can be unstable.

When your trying to tune up quickly on stage though (not sure how much gigging experience you've got) stability is very important. I want to quickly and easily see whats going on.


As I said in my first post, I too had a strobostomp and even if the Korg cost 3 times as much to put in on par with the strobostomp cost wise, I would still buy the Korg.

The strobostomp was sort of poorly made for one, had too many features which I for one don't need and that got in the way and it was worst of all difficult to read during the day.

Not a horrible tuner by any means and maybe if I did the Buzz Feiten thing etc I'd of kept it but I don't miss mine at all.


Fact of the matter though is that for 99% of musicians, this new Korg pedal is going to work wonders for.

Its everything you need, nothing you dont

Easy to read under any condition, accurate and stable ? yep

True bypass so you can just plug in into your chain with no tonesuck like the TU-2 ? yep

Rugged build ? yep, metal shell, good quality switch, should last

Compact size ? yep, about the size of an MXR pedal, no real estate wasted

Affordable ? I think so, its not the cheapest but roughly the same as the TU-2 etc and its way better


Seriously, this is going to be the tuner you will start seeing on everyones boards, it simply works.


I've gone through probably 10 or 15 tuners over my life and this is the best hands down and doesn't even cost an arm and a leg

I still don't see why som many guys hate on the Boss tuner...ya know a guitar is never gonna be in tune like a Grand Piano or a horn...it's just not ever gonna happen plus I wonder howmany guys have Tele's with 3 saddle bridges or LP Jr's with wraparounds and complain about their tuner...those guitars are even worse about neing in tune plus I wonder how many guys go through 2 or 3 or 4 different tuners and NEVER tough the intonation on said gutar that never seems to play in tune...

IMO the ONLY real issue with a Boss tuner is the buffered bypass and even that shoudl bother guys that want to put it early in line AND use transister fuzz or boost boxes after it...

Anyway, glad you got a tuner you dig bro...

for a cheap tuner. No reviews on them but Korg puts out decent stuff, but the cheaper stuff is usually less than to be desired. These are fairly cheap though only $29.99 for the GT4 and $45 for the DT4. ANyone have experience with either? I like the rotating display for tuning on stage. Or theoretically it seems like it would work well.

i will have to check out the pitch black i am planning on replacing my dt-10 and was thinking about a peterson strobostomp but dont like the price tag. this seems like a good alternative.

Why replace the DT-10? It's accurate, reliable, and solid as a rock. I'm just curious.

mine is going out. it doesnt pick up the strings good. which i cant complain when i bought it musicians friend messed up and sent me 2. i called them and they told me to keep it and not to worry about it. i sold one so i only ended up paying about $50 for mine haha.

Yeah your right, $89 seems to be the normal selling price (still $10 cheaper than the TU-2)

MF had some special email offers going lately where you got 20% off your order, I ordered then so that brough it down a bit cheaper.

My strobostomp was one of the best purchases I ever made. Not only do my guitars sound exponentially better with a proper setup/intonation/tuning with accuracy of the Peterson, but it trained my ears and I can now hear pitches much more accurately.

I have a VS-II and it will never leave my hands. I have noticed the same things you have with mine and its the best gear investment I have ever made by far! Yeah, its pricey but, more than worth it.

I can barely see the needle on my TU-12, but I have to have one that shape to fit on my board.

I'm thinking this Korg would work the best for me.
