Pix of the Flamed Koa LP clone I built at RV!!!

Re: Pix of the Flamed Koa LP clone I built at RV!!!

I absolutely fell in love with Koa when I started the Spring class of 2010... I started a Tele with Swamp Ash body and Koa top.... Just need to get to the spray booth so I can finish it up....

I went to the Roberto-Venn school of Luthiery in Phoenix, AZ... It's a great way to get knee deep in the build process and extensice training in repairs...

Neck resets, many refrets, crack repair, many set-ups, and countless other repairs I can't recall at the moment... Just got back from the gym, still lightheaded...

Thanks again for checking them out...

Travis, I enjoyed the school TWICE... Well, ALMOST.... I made it 12-weeks last spring, but had to medically withdraw... I returned from day one of Fall Semester to learn even more...

Immortal, no it's not carved... we had to follow a small set of rules, and carving was a no-go on student instruments... My next electric will be a PRS/McCarty style carved top hollow body...

Thanks to all for the compliments... I just wanted to share pics with my forum brethern, but I have to say the compliments ROCK as well!!!

Later,
Allen

Awesome Did you ever take there amp building class?

Re: Pix of the Flamed Koa LP clone I built at RV!!!

Bludave, the G is for my last name, Gordon...

Travis, sure did... Posted pics of the amp in the amp section.... RV-84 is what we dubbed it...

She looks great. How does she sound and play?

I didn't chamber the body, so it's HEAVY, but has amazing sustain...

I know I'd naturally be biased since I built it, but this was my 3rd build, so I had some insight... I truly nailed the neck profile i was going for and the pups were the perfect match....

The Triple Shots add simple switching...

Bottom line... It plays as nice as it looks!!!

Thanks!
