Plagerised Jam on toast with coffee

Inspired by 75LesPaul from his reply in his " Let's try that again " thread.

There's another one I've been thinking of putting up due to the similarity of the riff in it and how it flows and a song by an Aussie band that was quite a hit, that came out about five years after.

I love that jam. My favorite kind of stuff guitar jamming like that, from that era kinda like live Led Zeppelin or Hendrix type jamming. Awesome!
So here it is. This is from 1974:14:
The jam is edited to where we pick up pace and the bass player starts pumping out a riff. It goes on to about two thirds of the way through it [Around 3:15], where it goes into a quieter percussive section. It starts to pick up pace again at the end of the edit. I had to fade it at this point to fit it on here. It goes back into the riff solidly again.

The midnight Oil track is from 1980
It has the same riff although it varies more and has a verse/chorus structure. The riff is the core of the song though. Again about two thirds of the way into it, it goes into a quieter percussive section. [Around 2:30]
The similarity of the riff always seemed co-incidental but the positioning of the quiter percussive section seemed too great a coincidence.

What do you think? Co-incidence or something that involves conspiracy theories and evil goings on.:14:

If it's any consolation, I like what you did with the riff a lot more.

Dude, I'm listening to part one from 1974 right now and I'm just rockin', lol. Geez, it cuts out right where it sounds like you're getting ready to cook even harder! Man, I love that. Gotta listen to the other one now.

Ha, that's hilarious! Did they hear you jamming or what? That's like in the early, early 80s I wrote a song/riff and not too long after, April Wine put out a song called Enough is Enough with the exact same chord pattern, ha ha. Bastardos!

Re: Plagerised Jam on toast with coffee

The " Oils " were/are a Sydney band and didn't get to Melbourne much until the late 70's.
The bass player and drummer on the jams had copies of the jams we did and some of them including this jam were on a tape that I gave to an owner of a record company/booking agency [ Mushroom/Premier Artists ] to listen to around 79/80. If the Oils heard a copy of one of these, is about the only way I figure they could have heard it.

They certainly weren't present at the jam. That was done in the lounge room of a house I shared with the drummer and a couple of other guys. One is playing congas on that jam [ If you listen carefully ].

The bass player played in this band , Stylus.
This is from a reform appearance. [ I noticed he's uploaded a lot of stylus tracks on Youtube ]
He joined them around the time we used to jam. The lead guitarist of Stylus came around a couple of times and jammed too.:14:

I will put up a part 2 to the jam so you can hear how it continued. You're right , it takes off again.:14:
