I've also got Hipshots and they are great tuners as well.
I DO love the auto trim feature of the Planet Waves however. What Christopher and Ehd said makes it sound a bit scary, but it's really not. I've been using them for 15-20 years and have never had a screw-up. The instructions tell you to feed the string through the hole and pull it tight then screw in the string-lock and tune to pitch. This works great every time. But I, like Ehdwuld, like to leave a bit of slack before tightening it in case I need to loosen the strings to change a pickup, etc, and then I can keep the strings on and don't have to replace them.
You're in control of what you want to accomplish with your strings. Either way they stay perfectly in tune.

I have also the Planet Waves locking tuners for one of my Strats. I had to drill the holes on the head stock a bit bigger to accommodate the larger shaft. The string cutting feature is definitely a plus.
