Play in a day the Jonesy way - ESP

Re: Play in a day the Jonesy way - ESP

Ahhh! Much better!:cool2:

I was just noticing how much more player friendly the knob positions were, compared to an LP. I must have short arms. The standard strat vol. position is a pinky finger buster for me.

I can't use a std Strat for that reason. I have quite literally opened up the whole end of my finger using a Strat at a gig.

It's a real nice guitar very similar to the old Les Paul Custom Lite. It is a smaller body than an LP and the controls are in a different place which screws me up a bit but it is a first class guitar all the way.

That is SUPERCOOL - I dig the whole so close to vintage-yet-modern vibe! And all for way less than a grand I bet!!!

EXCELLENT!

Well the ESP line is a bit more than a grand. I bought it new with the hardshell and I think I walked out somewhere in the $1200 area with tax, they are up over $1300 now. You could do a top end LTD for under a grand easy but they are 24 fret necks and I just don't like them.

I am still trying to jibe with this guitar, I did it up like this to make it more fun to play, keeps me going back to it more often. Everything about it is so nice and it sounds really good if a little bright with the 59's. THe EMGs it came with were horrible IMO, I can't stand EMGs though I imagine a lot of folks must like them because that is all this line comes with, though I see they have a Standard version now that looks like it has passives. The neck is a takeoff on the 60's taper but very comfortable. It has massive frets, x-jumbo's, I think I may do a file to bring them down just a bit. It has a laquered ebony board which seems to be holding up well, I sweat battery acid and it cleans up pretty easily. The only other thing I am likely to do is swap out the Sperzel tuners, I don't like them. They seem like overkill not that I haven't used lockers on a non-trem guitar before but I don't like the ratio, the feel or their thumbscrew. They seem like they aren't made out of the right kind of metal to me plus the string hole for the low E isn't sized well for a .049. That's Sperzel's fault though not ESP.

Ancient Chinese secret........I made them.

I can print decals pretty easily.

I had found the pinup artwork somewhere along the line, I've been planning this for a while and then I edited them to give them a distressed look to match the wear on Steve's guitar. The placement isn't the same beause the guitars are different sizes.
