Played a Cyber Twin...and I like!

Re: Played a Cyber Twin...and I like!

That's great to hear-I'm always surprised that they don't come up more in this forum...

I've had one for about 2 years or so, and John (SPG60) loves his. My only revelation is that despite all the bells and whistles, I still gravitate towards one particular setting-either a tweed or blackface tone. The delays and echoes are fun, the wahs are terrible :smack: , and I'm not really into the flangers.

Bottom line with me-could I have picked up a vintage deluxe reverb, a fulldrive 2 and a memoryman for the same price or less and have exactly what I want with change for a cup of coffee? Yup!

Great tone, lots of fun-IMO...the best out there?-Hmmm...

I tried real hard to like it. Couldn't do it. Vetta and Valvetronix OWNS the Cybertwin.

I haven't given one a real good test drive but the knobs that move on their own is pretty damn cool.

Hey MRID, if you like it, disregard the bad comments about it. Try it with the guitars that you will be using, and if you like it enough then pick it up. Hope that helps.

I hate to admit it, but the last time I went to Guitar Center I tried a Vetta and with some tweaking and the Fender Lite Ash Tele, I was really rocking out. The tone really sounded like tube and I'd easily pick it over the amps there including the Valvetronix, Marshall DSL and Mesa. I felt like a little kid trying out all the settings :D

There might be a thing or two to this digital modeling stuff. In the future, I may cave in and get one, seriously. The Vetta was seriously nice and I bet the newer models Line 6 will release in the future will be absolutely killer.

Does anyone know if any modeling amps have MIDI footboard support? It'd be nice to have your favorite tones dialed in and all accessed so easily.

I've had a CyberTwin for almost two years and I LOVE IT. It has two preamp tubes, but no power tubes. After the initial childish fascination with mystical rotating knobs goes away after the first day or so, you never pay much attention to them. :)

lifeless tone. a DS-1 into a pandall SS would sound better, IMO. but, different strokes for different folks. if you like it, who am i to say it sounds bad.,

Scared of moving parts??? C'mon! I've never had a problem with the mechanics. I agree that the Vetta II is the man to beat in modelling amps, but I dunno about the Valvetronix (although I haven't been able to take one home and really use it.) The Fender sounds are great-that's what I'm after.

I won't however, sit here and say the CT is the best thing on the planet...but it's not the warty bxtch that people make it out to be either. :laugh2:
