Played a killer Suhr today

Re: Played a killer Suhr today

That looks nice as. Always wanted to try A Shur. Are you going to buy it?

I wish - but not in position to buy something big like that right now. I don't play too many that grab me like that! Seemed like the perfect axe to me.

Holy balls that is one sexy guitar!

Never played a Suhr I didn't love. GREAT guitars.

Re: Played a killer Suhr today

Much more appealing to me than the Rasmus imports were. There were a lot of things about my Suhr that I liked.

I suspect that they're putting their modern elliptical neck shape on these, though, which is way too skinny for my taste.

Re: Played a killer Suhr today

Jason (Dankstar) and I met up at the LA Pedal Expo. I played that same Suhr and it had an extremely nice neck.
I liked the Suhr room, and was really contemplating buying their popular strat pickup set....the Michael Landau set.

That Suhr we played into a Shiba Drive into a Badger 18 is one heck of a lead tone.

There were a few pieces of gear at the show I may talk about in another thread. My ears are shot, since I spent the last hour or so cranking my favorite amps at the show.....the Electroplex amps and Satellite amps. That Suhr Badger was pretty sweet too. Favorite was an Electroplex 410 w/4 6V6's and channel switching. That amp was sick.

They look nice, but they need a HSS! Dot inlays spoil the look a bit, imo - should have a blank fingerboard.

Is Suhr using OFR and not Gotoh now?

Indeed, I wonder what the story is, as they switched to Gotoh because, apparently, OFRs were becoming inconsistent (according to the boss). Though lots of other guitars on the website are still shown with Gotoh.

If I remember correctly - Its a Korean Floyd on the Modern Satin. Haven't heard about going back to OFR on the customs.

The Modern Satin replaces the Rasmus line on the lower end end of the line, still primo quality.

It looks like another addition to their Pro Series line, actually, which they've had for years and isn't really a replacement for anything.

Not to split hairs.

Re: Played a killer Suhr today

dude I talked with was saying the rasmus line was a pretty big pain (not sure of his exact words there) for them because they have to spend so much time tweaking them up once they come back in from assembly & before they go out for sale.

I've got two Suhr customs. Both tele style SSH, one with a Floyd.

The OFR Trems were requiring too much work to bring them up to spec, they were actually remachining some of them. So they switched to gotoh a few years ago. I've got the gotoh Floyd on my custom and I prefer it for construction, features and tone to a stock OFR.
