the local shop i do business with started carrying Riveras the past few weeks and i swung by there last night to check them out...my wife wasn't feeling good, (neither was i really) but i played on a couple of them with a used Gretsch Silver Jet (which for some reason i was really drawn too)
i played the Fandango first...
it's an EL-34 powered amp with two channels...one just like the Knucklehead reverb and one like a really quiet sweet clean fender sound...and it's a beautiful amp to boot, that pic doesn't do it any justice!
also played a small beauty that i'm severly g.a.ssin for...the Pubster 25!
it played like it had 2 channels (had a boost) (6v6gt's) and i actually liked the tones i was getting from this little dude a little better than the fandango...the 1st channel is a "high gain" channel and the second a "clean". It had volume, gain (pull for boost), 2 master vols, reverb, & presence knobs with three tone controls...i had some really good tones pretty quickly with this setup and the reverb was very tasty! i really like this fella and the thought has even crossed my mind to sell my tech 21 and get one...i'll never use the 120 watts of the tech 21 anyways, i always play bass in a band setting...so this would be more than enough for me at home....and the tone...the tone...the tone... :32:
btw...the silver jet w/bigsby was a real pleasant suprise for a chinese guitar...overall fit and finish was actually really good...chambered mohagany with maple top...frets felt good, pups weren't too bad, the tuners could have used an upgrade though...but they had it priced for $399, which i know they would come down on...anyways, it sounded awesome through the riveras!
