I finally decided that I had enough with Marshall didtortions, and hauling a 4x12 is too much for my old aching body. I went out to look for a small clean amp head and a smaller cab thinking I can just hook up a stomp box to it for distortion. Then I saw this Fender Concert Reverb. It was larger and heavier then what I had in my mind. I picked up an MIM Strat leaning right next to it and started playing. It sounded real good! There was also a DRRI standing by its side. I plugged in the DRRI and tried it also. Let me tell you, for those who own a DRRI, sorry folks, the Concert Reverb won the shoot out out right. The 4x10 speakers broke out so nice when they were pushed. It just reminded me of the movie "Close Encounter of the Third Kind" when the mother ship responded to the keyboardist. The DRRI was the keyboard and the Concert Reverb was the mother ship. It was "In your face"! There was another guy standing behind me when I tried the amps out. He told he had just ordered an DRRI and he would go back to canael that order and get the Concert Reverb instead. Unfortunately, as I had mentioned, the Concert Reverb is a little too big and heavy for me; but if I couldn't find anything to fit my bill, I'll come back and buy this one.

Maybe you could find a used, beat up but functional Concert Reverb and cut it down into a 2-10 cab. Or, turn it into a head with a small 2-10 cab. But, that would probably take away from the fullness of the 4 speakers.
Fender also has the Custom Vibrolux Reverb amp w/40 watts and 2 10" speakers weighing 46 pounds. There is no drive channel, however, but it does have vibrato.

Now that is an interesting idea. I don't even mind hauling a 4x10 cab long as it is under 45 lbs and not bulky. The problem with me is that I have yet to see a used Concert Reverb for sale and I don't know how the speakers will sound if they're put in a different size cab.

I wouldn't consider the DRRI to be known for it's 'in your face tone', it's more of a saggy, smooth, subdued tone that's great for jazz or blues players. I find it common for marshall players to dig the fender 4x10 sounds for their punch-bassman, super reverb, etc.
Take a peek at the 59 bassman LTD, it drives better than the concert but has a very good clean tone as well.

The Pro Tube Series Concert Reverb is the sleeper amp of Fender's line. I bought one of the first ones, when it came out, and owned it for 3 years as my home practice amp.
You're right, it'll trounce about any Fender amp, when it comes to versatility. It beats the vintage reissues, since it has the same beautiful clean tone, and even sounds fatter since it has a deeper cabinet. It'll beat the Cybertwin, because it's just as versatile, only it's all tube, and sounds better.
The best things about it is the 1/4 power switch, the deeper cab, the bias points on the back panel, and the high gain channel. The gain that you can get out of a Concert sounds better than the gain channels in ANY other Fender amp.
I biased mine with Svetlana 6L6's and better pre tubes, and it's an incredible amp.
The only weak point it has is the switching system. They use that crappy modern footswitch, and the thing is a bit fickle. If they had used a simple 1 button switch, the amp would be better, but that's the only beef I had with it. I sold it to another forum member a year ago, but really loved that amp.
The only Fender amp I own now is the Bassman LTD., but it's just a straight blues amp. The Concert was a more well rounded amp. Since the resale value isn't good on them, you should buy a used one for around $800. New, they're $1269.
