Pleasantly surprised by the Custom/59 combo in a LP

Hey guys,
I recently purchased a Edwards Jimmy Page LP form ebay on a whim. The guitar came stock with a Black Custom at the bridge and Nickel 59 at the neck. It also has the super switching option with 4 push/pull pots. I'm really really happy with the way these pickups sound in this guitar! I've been through so many pickups over the last few years it makes my head spin just thinking about it. I was planning on putting something different in this guitar, but this combo fits this guitar perfectly for the style of music I play (modern/heavy/rock). I'm now thinking of sticking this combo in one of my PRS Singlecuts. This combo just rocks in an LP! Anybody else diggin' this combo?

I'll be finding out in my SG real soon. The Demons got to go for something meatier in my bridge.

Got pics?

I'd be interested in hearing about the switching.

I'm considering upgrading the pots in one of my Les Pauls and the idea of 4 push-pulls for coil tapping and phase seems like it could have some very interesting results.

I love this combo in mine. It does nearly every style I can throw at it. Sounds fantastic!

I can't comment on that exact combo but I love the Custom in the bridge on my Epi Classic. For rock I've got to twiddle the knobs on the LP to back it down a bit and then usually tweak the mids or highs on the amp for a good Kiss, Thin Lizzy or AC/DC cover. Sometimes I can blend a little of the Jazz in to help with this. I'm guessing it's easier for you to get the rock stuff blending in that 59 neck. Opened up, my Custom can hit Priest, Maiden or anything else heavier (that I've still got the fingers for) about well as my Distortion can.

I've got a Custom/59 combo in my Toronado GT.....I absolutely love it. It's got that beefy chunk that I've always wanted, but it's refined...I can hear that PAF tone in the background. But yeah, the combo is absolutely amazing.

The Custom flat out rocks in a Les Paul bridge. Very cool. That's my favorite production pickup for hard rock. It cleans up pretty nicely too, but when crunchy, that big bottom end kick is dakind!

If you are going with a custom in another guitar, pair it with a Pearly gates neck. If you like how the 59 works with the Custom, you will LOVE how the PG works with the Custom even better. The PG works so well, it almost seems that is was made to go with a Custom.

Behind the Custom/PG, this would be my next pick and in third would come the Custom/59.
