Please educate me on the duckbucker

I can’t find any decent demos on YT and the reviews are not that helpful.

I have two main questions. Assuming it goes in the middle:

1) In parallel, does it balance well with a vintage output single like a SSL-1 or does it take over in positions 2/4.

2) In series, can it handle lead work with gain? (kind of a lil 59)

Thanks!

Look around for videos of the Godin LGX3. It's a vaguely LP shaped guitar that had Duckbuckers in it. Godin made it in the 90's. I bought one in 2000 or so when they discontinued them and cleared them out.

Good tip! Thanks.

Well, normal wiring is parallel. It is pretty low output, and I'd guess it would be around the same output as an SSL-1 with better string balance and quieter. It really does the quack thing better than most single coils, too.

That’s pretty intense.

Using parallel for quack almost seems like cheating to me somehow. That said, not much gets quackier than a Strat bridge + middle out of phase (or a Mustang out of phase.)
