Please educate me on the LP Studio

Re: Please educate me on the LP Studio

Yeah, 2007 and after studios are weight relieved. (which I hate!!) I bought a new leftover 2006.

Time Stood Still, Nothing more to add really.. Studios can be fine. Just no binding and no frills. I wanted the LP tone but having binding wasnt worth $700 more to me. I got a studio and its great.. Stock pickups were ok. Some pros use them. But I changed them.

I love the Gibson 490R/498T pickups, they have an awesome sound.

Re: Please educate me on the LP Studio

My studio is great, 2006, heavy, a big fat neck, white, and ebony board, just like I prefer. I did play a couple that had some not up to par fret work. But I also played more $1000 guitars that had the same problem. It's just a standard without the binding and standard knobs. That doesn't make any difference to me, purely visual in my opinion. The vintage mahogany are nice too, I just prefer color. The 490/498 pickups are really nice pick ups. I just recently changed mine to Suhr Aldrich but I didn't really HAVE to.

Yep! Many folks dig them! I didnt mind them, but I cant leave anything alone.
I pulled the 500t outta my explorer too. Was too hot and magnified my mistakes.. now Im alittle tighter, Id like to use it again, but its dead..

Don't mean to hijack, but what did you put in the Explorer? I been wanting to pull the 500 out of my explorer for the same reasons.

Some things of mine get left alone, like my Kramer, JacksoN Rhoads & Strat. ever other guitar has had a pickup swap, my Epi LP Studio got a full on makeover.

I have a 59b in the neck.. great creamy blues tone and I have a Custom in the bridge. I recently changed it from a Custom 4 to the Custom for more snarl.. I will change to a Custom8 when I get more A8 magnets..

Re: Please educate me on the LP Studio

I've been gassing for a Les Paul and a used LP Studio is in my range. I really want a '58 reissue but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Please educate me on the LP Studio. (Pickup swap is a given)

Quite honestly if your looking for something more like a '58 RI,
look into one of these.
Tokai LS150.

or this Bacchus Duke.

Yes, more expensive than a Studio.
But, not as expensive as a '58 RI.
And much closer in style to a '58 RI. (well, the Tokai is)

:friday:

it's Friday, cut me some slack :)

so I forgot the 0 after the 1 . . .

Oh, I thought that was a mathematical joke...but you just made a mistake.
