Please help: General advice on Amp/Pedal settings! :)

Hi all,

I'd love some general advice from all you knowledgable people on this forum. I know it's hard to give cut and dry specifics for differing equipment but I think some of what I need to know might just be fairly fundamental and as an equipment noob I simply don't understand it!

Equipment wise I'm running a Biyang Metal End King into the clean channel of an Ashton Bluetongue 50w all tube amplifier with a PRS Tremonti with Seymour Duncan Distortion + Jazz pickups.

I think I'm having a hard time getting my head around trying to EQ the amp and the pedal and most of all how I should treat the volumes. Obviously a 50w tube amp is quite loud in my bedroom but depending on how I setup the channel level, master volume and pedal level there is quite a bit of room to tweak these.

So I guess my question is...what is likely to be the best way to push the amp? I can push the master volume up to say 12'clock, but then obviously I have to set the pedal level extremely low to compensate. Or I can push the master low, the clean channel level to full and keep the pedal level also fairly low. Or I can just push the level on the pedal and keep the master/channel level low.

So, theoretically, what should be the most effective way of balancing the master volume, channel level and pedal level? Or am I just worrying about nothing...I don't really know!! :smack:

Thank you so much!

Master low
Pedal level high
Channel level to neighbors cat

Naw you keep the master low enough not to upset neighbors

Use the pedal level to hit the amps input hot
Or to taste

Channel level is just the balance
Set it to noon
Then up or down to warm the tubes
