I recently replaced my strings and pickguard and a freind noticed my bridge was on a steeper (raised) angle than his. I removed the bridged to see how its made and mounted. than reinstalled it. now my fat e and a strings are dull sounding like rubbing a fret but there are not. i need info on bridge adjustments, thanks.

Sounds to me like you installed your bridge incorrectly. Are all the screws screwed down equally? Are the set screws still in the saddles?

Re: please help, my strat has dead string

I remounted the bridge and made sure all the screws were the same, then took the sadle screws and made them all equal (horizontal and verticaly middle of the screw lengths). this got rid of the thud sound but it still sounds bland what direction should i go to get a crisper ring. I noticed the sadles were more or less staggered when i bought it. what is the theory behind this?

Re: please help, my strat has dead string

It needs to be set up in a bad way. Get a tech to set the string height and radius and to adjust your intonation.

Re: please help, my strat has dead string

You can learn to setup a guitar yourself but it is best to have a tech or a very skilled friend show you how to do it. Here is some reading that may answer some of your questions.
Setup Tutorials at Project Guitar
The saddles are staggered to properly intonate the guitar. Read that tutorial for more info.

thanks for the setup link. between it and the fender support page i found i was able to get the sound i wanted. setting up the guitar was not as hard as i thought it would be. neck pup-lil59, mid pup-stock, bridge pup-hotrails.

Re: please help, my strat has dead string

The saddles are staggered because those spots were where the intonation was on.
