I have one!!! Anything you wanna know!?!

Are they worth the ~$500 or so they go for on Ebay? :laugh2: I'm just so bored with Strats/Pauls/Teles that I'm willing to try anything different. :laugh2:

well...they are kind of hard to come by, and NOTHING else in the world sounds like one. mine is a real old real bad re-finish so it looks like sh!t, and somebody tried to "fix" the switching system before I got it so I got a deal...just had to fix it up a bit...it's still ugly, and Hagstroms are know for little tiny skinny necks, in fact their ad's in the 60's and 70's touted them as being the "fastest neck in the world"...they have a special truss rod system that allows them to have tiny little necks...im getting way off topic. If you want that tone, they are worth it...look hard and buy one that needs work...the switching system is pretty wild but I have schematics! If the switches have died (this is usally the problem) I know of switches that are a tiny bit larger but work just fine, in fact that's whats in mine. Let me know if you need any help...the one in that pic is a little older tha mine, but no matter what anybody else tells you there is very little difference in the early 60's ones (like the one in the pic) and the middle to late 60's ones (like mine).

Re: Please Identify This Guitar

The pic is terrible, but it could be a Hagstrom 111 or a Futurama III if it came through the UK (it will also have stainless frets and a composite "plastic" fretboard for the futurama) - if it has a big ding in the centre of the back and was originally red translucent finish, it was mine that got nicked!
They are very special and sound like nothing else when they work - be prepared to spend some time with switch cleaner and a multimeter.
