I am going to install a hot rails (neck) and JB (bridge) on my strat. I want to be able to select the HR so I can use it with the JB. What do I need? I figured I'd get a 500k push/push pot since i've heard the HR sounds better with 500. Do I need volume or tone?? also is the jb fine with the 250k pot?

There's several different ways to accomplish this. The way I did it on mine, was to just switch the neck and middle wires on the 5-way. That way, I have the neck by itself when the switch is straight up. Going backwards acts as a 3-way with the bridge, going forward acts as a 3-way with the middle. Like this:
1. Middle
2. neck & middle
3. Neck
4. Neck & bridge
5. Bridge
The downside, of course, is that you lose the middle/bridge combo that many people like.
Or, you can always just add a push/pull pot, or a blender pot, to dial-in the bridge or middle anytime you want. Like I said, there's various ways to accomplish this.
