Plexi + Duncans rocking

That is a great sounding rig! I don't know if it was the EQ or that you need to increase the volume on your lead track, but the lead guitar was mushed in the background a little.

I've got really lousy monitors for mixing...I'll try and make it better now.:smack:

Great playing man, nice groove. The tone is a bit too bassy for my taste..you know this "whooomph" effect sometimes.

Other than that, it's awesome.

Yeah...I like that "whooomph"...I know...I know...but I'm a child at heart. :-)

BTW...who's the chick in your avatar?:32:

Great energy, great playing, I love the "soaring" stuff, it really takes off.

Cheers...............................wahwah

Re: Plexi + Duncans rocking

the playing sounds real good to me. just bring the lead guitar foward in the mix and cut the bass some.

Re: Plexi + Duncans rocking

it's really rockin' hard...The Bass is somehow too loose...that means yur rythm track looses definition. But that's a matter of recording i think....Great track...

Re: Plexi + Duncans rocking

Hahah ,yeah that's why i don't own any Marshall ;)
With a Marc IV ,or Splawn etc ,there is no such thing as "too big" heheh...Tightness is important Niels :D..At least for my ears!:D

Re: Plexi + Duncans rocking

thanks for your comments guys.

this is the first recording I have done with my new Plexi so I'm kinda getting used to dialing it in.

The head is definately not "bassy", but I have a bottom obsession and dial lots of it in. :nervous:

However, i still have to find the right balance. In the actual recording I think that a lot of the low end comes from the bass guitar I recorded, but heck...with my 8 year old consumer soundblaster soundcard...what do you expect? :-)

I recorded some random riffing on the bright cannel on it's own so you can have a better idea.

The PPIMV was engaged to get a really low bedroom volume, bass-6, middle-6, treble-9, presence-10, channel volume-8.
Strat with Duncan 59 trembucker and SSL-2 neck pickup.
At higher volumes I'd probably dial out the bass, but at low volumes I find it gives more "body"...or "booty" which is cool by me! :fart:

The perfect HArd-Rock tone i think! The chug is just right.....But too twangy to my ears ,at least for that style...But the Hendrix stuff sounded amazing with that tone!!!Back in Black was awesome too!!!

Consider the fact that I bought this head to play stuff that sounds like Hendrix and AC/DC mixed together! :jester:

So I guess I'm there.

For the modern high gain stuff, I'd use another guitar and a distortion pedal like this:

I was just inventing things on the spot...I don't usually play this style.

Also the volume was really low...virtually no power tube and speaker influence on the distortion here.
