Why not mix two ideas. Hollow but add some cool designs on the places that need glue? Sparkle would look nice.

I remember seeing an interview with Walter Becker of Steely Dan and he had some sort of acrylic guitar. When he sat down to talk to the guy interviewing him he still had it in his hands and I swear I saw the Don Grosh logo on it. I know one person that has a Grosh Strat (in wood) and it's amazing.

Standard Strat design with no color, it was cool. I never have played one but they must resonate fairly well if they make drums out of acrylic too. Those Vistalite kits are pretty loud.

I had a Rennaisance guitar for a while in the 80's. Anyone remember them?
Plexiglass body. Bolt on curly maple/rosewood/walnut laminated neck with ebony board with no inlays. Dimarzio pickups. Active electronics.

A decent guitar but the tone was definitely thin and sterile sounding. It sustained great, but it totally lacked that nice woody warmth and bloom that a really great guitar should have.

But hey, maybe something like that is perfect for a more "modern" sound. Throw a Dimebucker, a DropSonic, or an Evolution in it and it might come alive!

Yeah I was thinking about a semi hollow to lighten the weight some since it will probably get heavy. Not necessarily a 335 body shape but something along those lines I think. I want to make it a double cut away. Not really looking to do a strat body. Tele is a possibility. I also want to have as small or no pickguard at all so it doesn't cover a ton of the body like the Dan Armstrong. Even if that means some of the wiring is visible in the body that's fine. The plexi I have is 1/2 inch thick sheets so I'm looking at 3-4 layers. I don't want to have to plane the body down at all so I'm looking more at either a 1.5 or 2 inch thick body probably. More ideas are still welcome. I want to do something that blows people away.
