Hi guys, I've been reading thru the posts here with lots of good info.
However I do not see much ppl asking about 15/20/30w solid state amps.

I'm looking for something that wont be too loud as I live in a small apartment with paper thin walls.
And i dont get many options here in Singapore too.

Budget approx 200$ max.
Purely for home use, will never gig.
I have a Pod HD 300 (looking to switch to Boss GT-8), so I would need an amp with better cleans than gain.

So far I've only seen the following in stores and in our local used gear forums
1. Orange Crush
2. Laney LG/LX
3. Marshall MG/Valvestates
4. Roland Cubes
5. Vox
6. Tech 21

Thanks fellas

The vox stomplab is pretty good. Just use headphones or an external speaker and you are good to go. Also you should look into a boss katana 50 turned to .5 watts, a katana mini, or a Yamaha thr. They are quite good.

Tech 21 or Vox if it were me. Roland Cubes are pretty good also.

I would avoid Marshall MG series. They don't sound like anything, except maybe mush.

Those little HOTONE amps sound great & are cheap as well :bigthumb:

Noted on the Katana, havent seen these readily available around here.
For the Yamaha THR i heard good things about those, have yet to try, but i know thats above the price point i am looking at.

What are those? Never heard of. Not sure if they;re available in Singapore.

Thanks for the recommendations.

These little guys.. 5 Watts & sweet tone for > $100 (USD). Should be just the right volume for your needs too..

They're China-made and probably available in Singapore..

Hiwatt Maxwatt series. Stay away from Fender Frontman 15. Awful headphones quality

Digitech Rp Series modelers
Headphones

They have drum loops as well
Some come with usb ports and software to create drum loops and edit amp Sims
And recording software as well

With that said
I am intrigued by the Joyo BantAmp series
Check out the YouTube videos
Several flavors under $200
All come with headphone jack

Re: Pls Recommend Solid State amp for Bedroom use Under $200

I love the Tech21 sounds. The Peavey Vypyr series is pretty cool, and cheap. I use these in my teaching studio. Nice clean and overdrive sounds.

Re: Pls Recommend Solid State amp for Bedroom use Under $200

Save a few more bucks, get a Vox MV50 and the cab for it. It's bedroom quiet if you want, but then it's also giggable. Headphone jack, great tone, enough power to play with others.

Out of your list, I would take a valvestate any day

Side note: ehdwuld - please take that picture out of your signature. wayyy too big

These were going to be my suggestions as well... the heart attack is AMAZING.

I would have to disagree my friend. The MG series are great little amps. Judas Priest used a mix of MGs and Valvestates in the studio.

Re: Pls Recommend Solid State amp for Bedroom use Under $200

Thanks for the recommendation guys.
Over the weekend I managed to find a second hand Micro Terror stack (with the accompanying 1 x 8" cab).

Totally wasnt checking that out until a friend told me that it was a great deal.
Cleans are good at low volumes, and i could still crank it up to get a nice overdriven tone.

Got it for about $150. Was about 6 months old.

Now the next quest is to find a couple of pedals like a overdrive/distortion + a digital delay or reverb.

Thanks again!

Re: Pls Recommend Solid State amp for Bedroom use Under $200

Given your list, I would go with an older Vox Valvetronix or the Roland Cube amps.
