Solid State Amp around 100W with nice cleans and a good platform for pedals???

Re: Solid State Amp around 100W with nice cleans and a good platform for pedals???

I had good luck in the past with Hughes & Kettner myself. Played through a small 1×12 30W combo and a (I think) 100W WARP head. Both were pretty organic sounding and took additional distortion and overdrive well.
What kinda struck me with H&K was that you could set the eq in a great variaty of ways and it was pretty hard to make it sound like crap.

Fender Mustang 3 or 4.

Very very good fender cleans as well as all the fx and some of the British models. It's the only solid state amp I own and won't sell.

One of my personal favorites is thr Marshall AVT150. It's also one of their Valvestate series of amps which they discontinued. It uses a tube preamp, has decent onboard digital effects, and also an effects loop. When the stock preamp tube went out, I replaced it with a Groove Tubes 12AX7-R and it gave a very nice mean growl to the amp, I can't stop playing it. As much love as I have for some choice Line 6 products, their Spider amps aren't the best - they sound too digital for my liking. Roland did come out with a new solid state amp that comes in either a 1x12 or 2x12, and it has had some pretty good reviews.

Whoever said Peavey Renown is right.
Rented one of those for a gig once and it was excellent with pedals in front.
Tons of headroom in that thing.
