Plugged into my Dad's Leslie

First I plugged it into his old SF twin, then into my Dr.Z.

Talk about COOLL!!!! I can't wait till I get my Marshall back so I can try IT with the Leslie. Anyway this one depends on the amp you plug it into for its tone, then it adds the effect. You can switch between your regular speakers, and the Leslie with the footswitch, then you switch betwen the regular Leslie tone or the Vibrato

Lots O FUN!!!

Re: Plugged into my Dad's Leslie

Leslies is cool. What kind do you have, there? Since you say it uses your amp for power, I'm guessing it's a model 16 or 18, right? Same as a Fender Vibratone, except the 18 had a JBL 12 in place of the standard generic 10.

I bought this for ~$25 on eBay a while back

- model 16 guts pulled from an old organ. Gonna re-fit it with a 12" speaker and build a box for it, with fake blue Univox cosmetics to match my 13 Watter combo. Weird science!

Yeah it's a model 18....good call!!!

Nice bargain Rich, I'm interested in how it turns out.

Nice! The Cadillac of the line. Vibratones (and the related Leslies) are doing well these days, thanks to mostly SRV spreading his whatever over them a few years back.

I think I'm going to put my "Avatar $52 Closeout" G12H80 in it - it's a loud, clean, efficient speaker, sort of a modern-day, Celestion-built JBL. Should be perfect for a Leslie, and a great excuse to spring for a new Eminence Wizard (that's the G12H30-ish Redcoat, right?) for the combo amp.

Talk about a lush sound though, very warm and natural. My Dad said when he bought it it was as much as the amp. I've played through a regular Leslie and although very cool you gotta run even more wires to run it with a regular amp.

Very cool speaker choices BTW.

Re: Plugged into my Dad's Leslie

I've plugged into my old Hammond player's Leslie speaker before, and it was wild.
I love hearing the motor speed up, after striking a chord.

I think I'm gonna ditch the Fulltone Choralflange on my board, and replace it with a H&K Rotosphere. I haven't stepped on that chorus in a long time.

Why are you ditching the Choralflange for the Rotosphere?

Re: Plugged into my Dad's Leslie

I got to take it for a test drive last night. I must say, I'm very impressed. I don't think I'll ever really be happy with a chorus pedal again.

I find little use for chorus, the flange is nowhere near as good as my ADA, and the rotating speaker sim isn't too convincing. It's not a bad pedal, but for what it cost, I'd rather cash out and get something I'll step on more.

Re: Plugged into my Dad's Leslie

Whoa - Joneser, did you buy a 65? Nice amps. I've been following their saga on 18Watt.com since the beginning.

C'mon Joe, just get a Leslie, you're so cheap when it comes to spending money on gear!:chairfall
